Default 97 EZGO TXT 36v

HI,

Recently purchased a 97 Ezgo TXT 36v Electric. Previous owner stated that he stopped using it when batteries went dead. I purchased new batteries and it wont go. Charger reads approx. 10 amps while charging. this model also does not have a tow/run switch like I've seen in pictures of the same model. Can someone please lead me in the right direction in regards to troubleshooting.

Thanks

Can you identify the drive system below? Sounds like you may have a DCS?

What is the battery pack voltage?
Should be 38.2V about 12 hours after charger shuts off.

With charger disconnected from cart, keyswitch ON and F/R selector in F or R, does the solenoid click when pedal is pushed?

I checked one battery at a time and each has 6.4 Volts for a total of 38.4 Volts. Last night one of the kids unplugged the charger so I wasn't able to get a full nights charge. I plugged in the charger this morning around 11am and just tested the cart at 7pm. Solenoid responded and was able to go for a ride. At least I know it works which is a good sign. The ride ended very quickly as the cart died with 2 or 3 spins around the block.

Do you think it didnt get a complete charge?

Plug the charger in and leave it alone until the charger shuts off by itself. Then drive to discharge the batteries to 75% of battery pack capacity (see chart for voltage readings or use 9 holes of golf as a reference point) Plug the cart back in and repeat the charge cycle.......It is very important you let it charge until it is completely done. Repeat this for the first 10 - 20 cycles......by the 12th cycle you will notice a difference in power, speed, and run-time.........I have never had a customer say they have not noticed the increase.

Most importantly, NEVER run the battery pack down below 50% of capacity throughout their entire life. Never leave the batteries in a state of discharge for extended periods of time. Recharge the pack every 2 weeks if the cart is sitting idle or in storage. And when in doubt, recharge it

During the break-in procedure, keep an eye on the water levels. It can take 12 hours or more for the 1st few Charging cycles. These extended charge cycles may evaporate some of the water. ( use distilled water only )

Fill to the bottom of the solid well. Overfilling is bad. As the batteries break in you will notice the charge time gets shorter. Eventually going from 12 hours to 5-6 hours per recharge.
yes it dd not have full charge

Interstate 6V GC2-HD. I tested each one individually and they have 6.4 V. I have attached battery ratings from interstate.

I put the cart to charge about 2 hrs ago. I went out to check it out and the charger was at 0amps. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it starting charging again. Is that normal. Sorry for all the questions im new to this. Thanks again for all the help.

yes that's okay and good for new batteries ... let them completely charge.
Let the cart sit idle for 12 hours, post the pack voltage. (38.2?)
Go twice around the block, let the cart sit for 5 minutes, What's the pack voltage?

that may give some kind of idea if the batteries are charging properly, & if you have excessive draw someplace.
