Thoughts on Melex Golf Carts?
Considering grabbing a 99 Melex cart. Haven't seen too many parts for them though.
Any thoughts on this cart? Where can a brotha get parts? Lift Kits, etc.? |

Golf Carts are like Televisions. They are only as good as the service shops.
If you don't find any authorized service shops, you will find there are not many parts in existance. Much too often, there are no accessories either and little to no mods for them. |

Re: Thoughts on Melex Golf Carts?
Rusty is right, Melex makes a good cart, but they are hard to find parts for. I have scoured the web looking for lift kits etc, and they just don't exist. You can have them lifted, but there is no generic kit. Steering wheels, rims, tires motors etc. are available, but not all the trick stuff. They are ez-go clones so some ez-go parts will work.
It all depends on how much of a deal you are getting on the cart. For me, my Melex was really clean, already had a back seat, winshield and top, and was only $800. So, it was worth it. I have abandoned all hope of lifting mine anytime soon though, it is stock...clean....and a butt load of fun......that's enough for now. Dan |

You sure it's a 1999? I think maybe a 1989 is a better number. My thoughts? Keep looking...

Honestly it depends on what you want.....If stock fits your needs we can help you make it run for ever.....If modification is on your mind well, just figure on making everything you need yourself P.S. Don't believe that 'same as an Ezgo' crap...nuthing fits except the wheels .....Good luck

Re: Thoughts on Melex Golf Carts?
I just picked up a Melex last week for $200. My neighbor had it and it was a great deal so I got it off his hands.
I spoke to a local cart shop about this brand. He told me that Melex is absolutely out of business and finding parts will be a massive challenge. Either way, I am planning on eventually converting it to gas and lifting it with fully custom suspension anyway, so parts wont matter that much as it works great as it sits. Here are some pics. |
