EZ GO quits running
2014 EZGO Freedom RXV that has very few hours. Unfortunately, took cart through a very deep water that over ran the floorboards. Almost immediately the Cart started giving random problems. The cart started stumbling but eventually straighten out until today. Now the cart will crank and run for about 25 yards. It quits completely but with electrical power like to the switch and headlights. If you let it sit for a few minutes it will crank again and run for about 25 yards. Cart runs great when it cranks but something is shutting it down. Any help would be great. Seems like something pretty simple. Thanks

Re: EZ GO quits running
Maybe the explanation was all wrong. Surely someone has run across this.
2014 EZ GO RXV Freedom Gas From Cold Start- Cart will crank and run for 25 yards and then quit. Battery Power at 12 volts. Starter Solenoid will not engage During a 20 minute cool down- Starter/Generator will engage at random and motor will fire off at random but will hardly move before it quits. After 20 minute cool down- Cart will crank and run for 25 yards again and die Repeat Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pretty knowledgeable about Motors but I am completely stumped on this one. Thanks, |

Re: EZ GO quits running
The microswitch associated with the gas pedal may have gotten water logged and is not working properly. You can try to manually put a switch in to troubleshoot and see if it stays running.
When it quits, do you still have voltage at the posts of the solenoid? |

Re: EZ GO quits running
I have not put a meter on the solenoid but I will tonight. If memory serves me correct, it seems to click at the solenoid when you push accelerator even though it wont turn over starter/ generator. Do you know if there is a oil level sensor or something like that. It seems like a safety feature shutting it down.

Re: EZ GO quits running
It seems to be a micro switch under the gas pedal. If I jump the solenoid from the small red wire to the battery side of the solenoid the cart will run. Is the micro switch easy to replace and is it done from under the cart. Thanks,

Re: EZ GO quits running
I always hate when a Thread doesn't complete. It was the micro switch under the gas pedal. 4 conductor harness attached with two small screws. The switch has developed a weak spot and once removed from the cart it can be depressed with side pressure and the cart will run. $16 switch from ez go and about an hour to remove the floor mat, hill brake and floorboard. Very easy replacement. Thanks,
