Check your fuel pump diaphragm for defects.

The clutch cover is not held on by the main bolt. There should be 3 small screws around the outer edge of the cover. However there is nothing really exciting under the cover for you to do. Other than that GoTeeMan is correct. If the clutch has not been off in a while it is a nausious task to get that bolt out and then you will find that the clutch just fouls the rear axle and you have to loosen an engine mount and jack up the engine. Unless you have a real reason to suspect the drive clutch operation I recommend that you leave well alone, you are heading down a path of misery, squalor, degragration and tears.

I can pull my clutch out without moving the engine. Much easier to ***** the condition of the clutch with it out of the cart but @Dave is right nothing to see in there unless you suspect it is completly worn out then the only option is to replace them as there are no parts available for them at all.

Did a compression test today it has 130 lbs in R and 125 lbs in F. To me that looks like very good compression. When't to napa and got a new shorter belt going to give that a try. The belt is 44 3/8 x 1 3/16 hoping for the best.

Was driving the cart the other night and the drive clutch got stuck had to bang on it to release. Took it for a ride with seat of to watch the clutch and could see it stick and wouldn't release until I was stoped. So I order a new comet clutch and new crank seals to. I'm glad I order the crank seals just got the flywheel off and you can see the seal is shot. the clutch side not as bad. Parts will be here on Friday can what to see the difference

Just go the crank seals in the motor and the new clutch on. Took it out for a ride and the motor runs great. Took it up and down some hills did awesome. It use to bog down when getting back of the gas when turning a corner not no more it just go's. Thanks everyone for your help. My family and I will have a lot of good times on the cart.

Excellent news, I am glad that the forum was able to help you. As it happens this weekend I decided to change my stock belt and used the same one as you. I am amazed what a diffence 7/8 inch makes. My 86 accelerates and climbs hills like never before.

Hmmm. not sure, the design changed in 1988 (and a half) and the clutches changed as did the back axle and differential. What you could do is wrap a tape measure around your stock belt. Mine was 45 inches, which is stock, so I used the DAYCO HP3004 which is 44 and 1/8 inches. That 7/8 inch makes a huge difference, this weekend I ran up a hill that in the past had stalled out the cart, this weekend she just hunkered down and at a steady 2000 rpm drove up like a little jeep.

I am sure that if you posted the length of your belt some smart guy will know the part number of a shorter one.

Dave
