Converting vacuum fuel pump to electric
Hello,
I am new to bgw and I was searching around for some information on converting the vacuum fuel pump on my 1984 ezgo marathon running a rebuilt Robin EC25-2PG to an electric one. I am experiencing some issues with fuel delivery system. Specifically the fuel filter runs dry when you drive the cart down the street. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I had a buddy look at it and his suggestion was to take the fuel filter off and clean it out as it could have some dirt in it from the rebuild. Thank you so much. Luke |

Re: Converting vacuum fuel pump to electric
Hi Luke,
These are very simple systems, and I personally wouldn't want to convert a vacuum-driven fuel pump to electric, especially with the very elemental electric systems on these carts. There's a few things to check, including dirty carb, bad fuel lines, loss of suction, dirty or wrong fuel filter (very common issue), stuck float, wrong idle screw setting, bad pump, etc. Just to change the pump may not solve your issue as there are many ways the engine can be starved of fuel. I'd do a little diagnosis before hurtling down that particular road. Me, I just recently had a fuel issue that was caused by the screw falling out that attaches the butterfly valve to the throttle plate. |
