Gas to carb still wont start
I have a 1984 yamaha 2 stroke that won't start. I have lots of compression and spark, fuel to the carb but don't seem like I am getting fuel to the cylinder because spark plug is always dry never fueled up. Carb has been cleaned lots of fuel coming from pump but the muffler has been fully wrapped with a second skin of metal over it. I have read that the muffler could cause trouble like I am having as I do get the odd time a small back fire from muffler. It seems the carb is not getting fuel sucked out and put in cylinder. Please help

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
Try pouring a little mixed fuel right into the head thru the spark plug hole, put the plug back in and see if it'll fire. That should tell you if it's a carb problem.

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
Check for broken carb cable. Look at carb while pressing pedal, is throttle opening?

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
I have poured fuel in cylinder but still no go, wont even fire then. The spark is not a bright blue but more of a white spark, not enough to fire.

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
All the linkage is working fine even the choke and I have checked the exhaust valve near muffler. I think the spark is not enough to fire but there is spark, and I gapped the plug to 27" inch.

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
I don't know much about G1's...never had one but sounds like an igniter/coil problem? Have you performed a compression test just to make sure that you have enough compression?

Re: Gas to carb still wont start
Thats my next step compression test. Is there a way to check igniter coil because there is spark but not a blue spark like it should be.
