Default Looking to replace or clean my carb in my 2003 ez go txt

Found this video and I am interested in removing my carb and cleaning it to solve some backfiring and jerkiness while driving.

Is this video pretty accurate in regards to removal?
Is replacing just repeating the steps backwards?
What should I be looking for in regards to the carb needing replaced as opposed to just needing a good cleaning?

All rights of video belong to the poster on YouTube. I just shares because I believe it most closely matches my golf cart

Thank you!

He was doing ok until he grabbed the vise grips to loosen the lock screw on the choke cable. That screams, "I'm a noob, I don't know how to use tools, and you don't want to own anything I've worked on." At least, it does to me.

Ok…..
I agree with above. Let’s use the right tools.

Secondly, and I’m just being honest here, If you need a video to just remove the carb maybe you’re better off taking it somewhere to clean it for you. Not trying to be mean but some people are mechanically inclined and some are not.

Thirdly, do not replace the carb. The Chinese aftermarket ones you can get on Amazon for 20 bucks suck. They frequently create more problems than they solve.

Your best bet is probably taking it to a shop and having them clean the original carb.

Mustie1 has much better videos and he actually knows what he’s doing.

Backfiring and jerky movement suggests the carb linkages are either not shutting the carb down completely with pedal up, or the pedal switch is activating after the carb butterfly opens. Check these things first before potentially damaging the carb if you are not confident or competent enough to do it without video help. Also check that the throttle idle screw is not turned in too far and holding the butterfly slightly open.
