Default Solenoid was stuck…buy new one now?

Was out at a campground and cart broke down while wife was driving it. In an attempt to make a long story short the Alltrax SR controller was throwing a precharge failure code and seeing as how I wasn’t home my tools and diagnostics would be very limited to fix. I didn’t see any wiring that looked bad or came loose, all the micro switches were at least making the right noises and no solenoid engagement. Talked to my wife and I think she was driving on a small hill at a very slow speed and it got me thinking she got the solenoid welded closed which I read could throw that code. I just happened to have a small hammer available and wouldn’t you know a few taps later on the solenoid body and we were back in business.

I have one of those MZJ400 solenoids on the cart. Are they known for sticking or locking up? Carts working fine now but wondering if I am on borrowed time until something happens again. Should I just replace with another one now?

I had a MZJ400 fail last summer. I don't like them. I went back to a stock solenoid for both of my Lithium Yamaha carts. It's not current that makes them fail, it's a mechanical problem with the plunger tip that mushrooms over and no longer opens the switch that shuts off the pull-in coil. Then the coil overheats and fails.
