Default tightening the starter/generator belt on flathead

I have noticed the belt slipping at times on my starter/generator when I get ready to go. I have tried to snug up the belt once, but must not have gotten it tight enough. Is there a easy way to do this???? Need some pointers.

If you dont hold the starter where the belts tight it will loosen while you tighten the bolt. So you must hold the starter while the belt is tight while you tighten the bolt

Well I did that the first time. My only problem is I only have 2 hands and I was hoping someone new of a good location for prying up on the generator while tightening the bolts. I have a overhead crane in my shop, maybe I can use it to lift up on it while I tighten the bolts.

You ideally need to grow a third arm or ellicit the help of a second person. CC were never very smart when it came to the adjustment of the S/G belt. The later ones are no better and require some extraordinary manipulation and contortions of the human body to get it "just so". The bloody bolt and nut sizes are different and there is no provision for tensioning . A classic case of a simple job made difficult by sadists !!!!
Just saying.

Chris.

Well I think I finally got it tight enough last night. I had to take off the rear seat, which I was trying to avoid. I had a old 2ft long heay duty screw driver that was bent, so I bent it into a 90 and it worked perfect. CC just doesn't make it a simple job, but that is one tool i'll have to hold on to...
