This is looking like a one sided argument!

We need the specifics on your cart, and what you plan on doing with it.

My 48v upgrade gave me more speed, torque AND distance. I monitored the mileage on my 36v setup and I'm getting about 25% more distance from having 8 6v batteries.

Here's my exact results:

36v: [6] 6v batteries = 5 miles at 14% battery usage
48v: [8] 6v batteries = 15 miles at 25% battery usage

That's a big increase in distance.

I'm surely glad I went to 48 volts. I think I can run that thing all day long... and my cart is HEAVY when I'm running it!

No question its a nice upgrade depending on what you are going to do with the cart. I use mine exclusively for hunting and could not be happier with the change. I labored over the 6-8v or 8-6v option for quite a while and decided to go with 6 quality 8v batteries because of a few reasons. How far are you really going to go before you recharge? 15 miles or so is a long way in a golf cart and you can easily do that without having to recharge. Also the conversion is easier and cleaner since it will all fit under the seat. I am not sure about the info libertybell gave because the distances are not equal so it is hard to determine exactly what the usage is at the same distance. Also someone mentioned that the more voltage is better but it does not matter 48volts is 48 volts no matter how you get it. Lastly I talked to the battery manufacturers and they all said that the extra 2 6v batteries was worth about 20% more distance so instead of 12 miles you could go 10 IMO not worth all the extra install probs plus it looks cleaner.

FYI, my electrics upgrade were the standard stuff, Alltrax AXE 500 amp, Plum Quick motor, 4g wires, HD F&R, HD 400amp solenoid, Trojan batteries.

5 miles at 14% is 10 miles at 28%. Since 25% and 28% are relatively close I consider them about the same. So, 10 miles vs 15 miles at 25-28% is a 30% increase.

Put that modern math in yer pipe and smoke it 30% increase is what it works out to be in amperage storage capacity too
