Occasional RPM spike but no speed, maybe clutch slipping?
I tightened up the belt going from the electric motor to the gas motor b/c it was slipping. Since then occasionally the motor sounds horrible, like it's hitting the rev limiter but you're only going 5mph when the cart normally hauls butt at 25-30. I haven't found a sure fire way to make it go back to acting normal.
I'll shift it to R and back to F, hit the brakes, the gas.. eventually something causes it to go back to normal. Any ideas what this could be? Do I need to tighten the belt more, or less? The cart runs very nice. I wish it was stronger down low with less top end, but i'm guessing a previous owner did a gear swap for more top speed, he had to of. Thanks for the help everyone |

Re: Occasional RPM spike but no speed, maybe clutch slipping?
sorry, was searching the forums for some info, didn't find anything exact, but I did need to mention it's a 2004 txt
how do I check to see if the clutch is slipping? The previous owner put a brand new shorter belt on it. |
