Default 1990 Gas Club Car - Proper way to use chock?

When starting cold do you push and hold the big black button or pump it?

Generally you pull a choke out. You dont pump it although you might have to open it occasionally if your having trouble starting it. Sometimes on mine I have to run partially choked till it warms up.

roady on a C.C. you push the choke button in......really can,t grab it to pull it out its protected by a sleeve..........as for using it try pumping it 3 times and than starting it if it dosn,t start wait a few minuts so you don,t flood it and try starting it and pump the choke 3 times while cranking over.......every cart is different like mine 1 of them i never ever have to touch the choke and my other one i have to pump the choke about 10 or 12 times while cranking and my other one just has a sweet spot no matter what i do if my pedal isn,t in just the right spot it won,t start.......................................

Pumping the choke does nothing more than cut down the intake air momentarily. Hold the choke in and give it half throttle (some require more or less throttle) and the engine should chug into life. Mine needs an occasional additional press of the choke until thoroughly warmed up but as Tom says, others require no choke at all.

FC. pump it while your cranking it.......yes it does make just a small difference but sometimes thats all thats needed and anything more dosn,t help......every one is different and its just an experiment to see what the cart wants....you shouldn,t need more then 3 seconds on the choke for any cart but we all know that dosn,t always work either.............................

My cart is just a bit newer... most of the time I don't need to use the choke,
But, when I do... I hold the choke in until it either sputters, or starts.

and yes... I have flooded it before from holding the choke in too long!
