Lift kits

Do lift kits lift the body or the whole cart? I've seen several pics showing carts with alot of air between the road that the cart. Looks like a man can crawl underneath, yea I know they may have a 8" lift on their cart. But the others that I've seen look like they lift the body not the cart itself. Can someone explain alittle more on what is going on.

well...usually they lift cart, a body lift on a golf cart would be more of a pain in the butt than a suspension lift. but hey, body lifts are probably out there for some stupid reason

No one produces a body lift for golf carts. There is no such thing, if there were it wouldn't make any sense really. All lift kits are suspension components.

ok well there ya go then haha, body lifts arent out there. i just didnt want to rule that out completely cuz i know that i dont know everything about carts and that there are a lot of other people on this forum that know WAY more than i do

Also if you are buying a lift kit, be sure it matches with your steering. I recently saw some pics where a replacement lift axle was used, but it left the steering rod down at the level of the previous axle where it would impace a rock or stump if the cart managed to center it while driving off road. In that case, the spindle lift would have been much cleaner and more functional. (The mentioned cart did not have steering rods from center to both sides like my 2000 TXT, instead it had from center to passengers spindle and a cross bar back to drivers spindle).

Spindle lifts give more clearance to the front end. The rear axle will always be directly between the rear hubs, so block lifts are typically what you see there. (My cart has a garage engineered spring lift to the rear - not very strong, but it pushes the front of the leaf spring down about 4 inches to achieve the lift. This was welded in by the previous owner, and while I do not recommend it, it appears to work just fine.)
