How many amps do i need???
Hello forum, I have a 6" lift and 22" tires. Heavy duty solenoed and fwd rev switch. Will i notice the difference between the 400, 500, or 7000 amp controller? They are only $200 apart just need expert input. Im also planning on 8hp highspeed motor soon after controller. Thanks for any advice!

Re: How many amps do i need???
I'm no expert, but figure out what you want the end result to be and then build towards that goal.
If you have a '94 Medalist as your screen name implies, it's a series cart (Series wound motor) With a series wound motor: Amps = Torque Volts = Speed. Also with a series wound motor, total current flow though every cable, contact and component equally, so you've got to have a high current circuit that can pass the amps and a battery pack that will provide them. Suggest talking to the vendor you are getting the motor from and find out their recommendations on how many amps are needed. Then build the high current circuit to meet those needs. |
