Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
well i took apart every electrical connection and cleaned them up treal good.....
so far it has started every time with minimal hesitation, however the hesitation is still there and seems to alter depending on the stroke the engine is on when it is turned off... I am still losing a charge on my battery when i have my lights on...think im goign to take out the s/g and see whats going on in there... thx for all the help...Jason |

Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
Did you ever get old driven clutch removed ?
I need to remove mine to send to Tom @ CCP to be machined. Boy it make one heck of a noise going up hills now. Do bolt remove the normal way ? |

Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
You can use a pickle fork between the driven clutch and the trans axle housing to force the driven clutch off once you have removed the bolt....and do the word a favor and put .03 cents worth of anti-seize on the shaft when you put it back on

Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
so i took the generator out of the cart to check out the brushes, they appear to be in good shape....
my understanding is there is a line on the brushes that tell you when they need to be replaced, it barely looked like mine were wore down at all? i appreciate any input... |

Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
if you read my last post I recently took the s/g out of the cart and checked the brushes, they looked like they had been replaced already.
So I did some more research and I determined that I need to check the voltage on the field terminal on the s/g at ~ half throttle. At idle it is only putting off ~ 0.5 volts, at half throttle its putting out about 13.5 volts, it is my understanding that is how it is supposed to work. Now when I have the cart running at half throttle and I put hte voltmeter on the battery the volts go up super slow, like .01 Volts/30 seconds. If i put the lights on the voltage goes down at a similar speed. This sounds like the generator is working correctly and the voltage regulator needs to be replaced. Can anyone confirm this or point me in another direction? Thanks...Jason |

Re: 1985 Club Car Rehab
It does sound like the regulator may be to blame. The test for checking the V.R. on newer club cars is pretty simple, but I don't know if 85's are wired the same or not. I can't remember.
