Re: Motor recommendations
I think I'd take it to a repair shop before trying that. I picture busted concrete and bent/broken brake drum. Anyway, I'm not just dropping, I'm slamming it down. Will try the PB Blaster, then maybe some reheating and if that doesn't work, try to find someone else to get it apart.

Re: Motor recommendations
I'd give David (TahoeDawgZ71) at Revolution Golf a call Monday A.M. He's seen more of these stubborn SOBs than anybody else here. Maybe you're not holding your mouth right

Re: Motor recommendations
Not to nitpick. WD-40 is great, but the WD stands for water displacement. 40 was how many formulas they tried to get it "right", if I remember right.
It's NOT a lubricant. And while good for some things, it absolutely does nothing for us on others. PB is a nice rust buster. Douse it a few times. Then don't be afraid to hit random spots with a hammer to break stuff loose. |

Re: Motor recommendations
Got some PB Blaster, soaked it all day and applied heat. Armature not moving. So took off the brake drum, removed the studs, put some plate steel over the concrete floor, heated it, still not moving. The unexpected motor issue has stopped the other work I had planned on getting done. Pretty burned out with it so far.
I just saw an old post from TahoedawgZ71 where he says " I've never had to drop one more than three times." I've slammed mine down I bet 150 times. |

Re: Motor recommendations
I know this is a stupid question. But is the armature end pointing down and the differential end up when you are dropping it. Somebody got to ask the tough questions.

Re: Motor recommendations
Yes, armature down as in the attached photo. That's why I asked if I was missing a clip or something. I haven't asked yet but if I don't care about salvaging the armature, how could I get it off? Thought about drilling through it off center( to avoid the shaft) where I could get a long bolt in it and either beat, push, or pull it off.

Re: Motor recommendations
Just catching back up to this thread, wow. I think this is the first time I've ever seen Tahoe's method not work. There's no clip to hold it on, just the rust on the mating surfaces of the shafts.
I'm with Tag, maybe give David a call today. He's super helpful, I'm sure he'll walk you through maybe another method he has - I would venture to guess nobody on the site has had as many motors on and off CC transaxles as him. |

Re: Motor recommendations
If that was mine I would be so hard headed I would take the darn thing to Augusta and pay David to let me watch him get it off.
