Basically it scrubs the potentiometer's wiper contacts. They can get a bit of corrosion/dirt on them. This apparently renders them usable for a while, but still requires the unit to eventually be replaced.

And if it works by pumping the pedal 20 to 30 times and then starts in again then there is solid evidence that the MCOR is the issue...sometimes it works for a long while and you can get by...

If that doesn't work or even if it does work you will need to get yourself a serial to USB cable to check the software setting inside the DCX controller.

I had the same issue and the pumping the pedal does make it better. Such a great forum!
