You will need a tach that is designed to work on a 2-stroke motor. The Equus 8068 will do that.

Re: G1 getting hot after Umaxx spring install?
It is pretty hard to kill a G1 motor, unless you let is go lean, or let it suck dirt in. Here is a video of my old G1 motor, modified to run up around 9000rpms.
Oh, BTW, my name isn't Bud, it's Don. |

Re: G1 getting hot after Umaxx spring install?
Can you put the original spring back in and see if it runs hot?

Re: G1 getting hot after Umaxx spring install?
I can but i had original spring in for ever and it never seem to get that hot. So my only way to know if im runnin to lean is to check and c if plug is dry?

Hard to say. Most sure fire way to know and have piece of mind is to put the original spring in for a few days and fun it.

Re: G1 getting hot after Umaxx spring install?
I would certainly look at the plug before doing anything else to get some idea what is going on.It only takes a couple of minutes. The cheap digital works fine on two strokes there is a setting for that.Only downside is the lag,but I don't think that is much of an issue here.
