Default Keeps getting hot!,

I have 2 gauge cables on batteries and the motor. 8" lift with 26" tires, I keep burning through the terminals on my motor. The terminals on my motor start smoking and the resistors are hot after driving a very short distance (75 yards). What can I do to keep this from happening again?

You've created something that cannot sustain operation. The big tires cause the motor to draw excessive amperage. The resistor coil drive system was a minimally designed system for 2 people to go for a 300 yard drive and let the cart rest/cool and repeat on 18" tires on relatively flat groomed fairways.

A resistor cart was never meant to be run on 26" tires. The extra torque puts more electrical strain on everything. Even if you can make the motor run cooler, the next weak link will show it's self.

There are only 2 options. either run on 18" tires or convert to a controller system.

I'd give Scotty a call. Even if you can beat his package prices a-la-carte, nobody has better pre-sale or post-sale service.

I did call him and I have to convince my husband to spend the money. We only paid $200 for the cart. We already have $1500 in it and another 800 is a big stretch. Decisions decisions.

Thanks again ScottyB
