Default Skid Plate on G14 ??

I noticed today while changing oil that there was 2 tabs in front of motor and 2 on back side too. These have rivets still in them like something had broken off. Did a G14 come with a skid plate under the motor ? Thought it might have the way these were positioned to protect the block. With rivets in the tabs it couldn't have ever been removed .

Bama, my G8 came with a light duty skid plate.

I drilled out the rivets with a 1/4" drill, then welded 1/4" nuts on the tabs on the swing arm. So I can remove the skid plate for maint or cleaning when I like!!

Here is the best pic I have of it!!

Looks like it would have had a hole in the middle to get to the drain bolt. I plan on drilling or cutting the rivets off and make another plate but removable. I use my cart in the woods and would hate to hit a rock or something .

I agree on hitting a rock, the rear end hangs down even lower. There is a hole in mine to get to both drain plugs!!

On my G2 when I installed the V-twin I took it off and made the engine mounting plate big enough that the skid plate was no longer needed. I do however need to make one for protecting the rear end in mine.

If you ride rough trails with bigger rocks like I do protection for both is a must.

Mine was missing when I got the cart and just got rid of those tabs with my plasma cutter.Vegascarts motorplate makes a heavy duty skid plate.

Did yamaha have a plate to cover the rear end ? That sway bar is so low even with 22's It hangs on some things in the woods at times. They should have come up with something else for that. Guess it was meant for a soft grass golf course tho....LOL
