Thats what I've been told by a few friends,"just run the crap out of it" to burn off the oil. Its weird though cause sometimes it will run with very little smoke then others it is much more noticable

Run the compression test.You will know pretty quick where you are.

Valves or rings . Is it mechanically quiet? Myself I never seen a muffler needing BBQ on a 4 stroke.Even when my G14 was smoking like a crop duster.My dry compression was 135,wet 155. Muffler had some soot but nothing that caused any real smoking. 2 strokers another story.

Yeah mechanically it sounds pretty good. I will try to get a compression tester this weekend. By "bbq'ing a muffler" do you mean just run the **** out of the cart?

This is a "muffler BBQ", to roast all the crud. But i would suggest running it on some long trips first, to see if that'll do the trick. Check the oil often, if its getting lower, more crankcase oil is being consumed, not just crud in the exhaust.
