Re: Need pic of F/R wiring for electric 1993 Club Car DS
Once the cover is off you will see a series of resistors connected in a daisy chain fashion by a series of bolts. Put one lead of the meter on last bolt at the bottom of the chain then sample each bolt up the until the ohms stop going up. Test wire ends on just that resistor to confirm it's the bad one.

Good eye on the battery. I had to move it out of the way so I could get to everything else.

Re: Need pic of F/R wiring for electric 1993 Club Car DS
The problem you described is a control system issue, not a power system issue. So, no, the battery pack isn't a factor. All the tests you've been doing don't require power to be applied. When power is not needed, I always disconnect the battery bank from the system before working on the cart. The controller you save may be your own.
Up to 16 hours is not an unreasonable charge time. Charge times depend on how far the batteries were drawn down. The deeper the draw down, the longer it takes to replace. Tested all. Found the top 3 resistors have no power.

Counting from the bottom up, the first resistor of those 3 is toast and breaking the chain to the other 2. You can verify the other 2 by reading the posts that only that resistor is connected to.
The replacement resistor can be gotten at any electronic supply store (I've found some at Radio Shack). Have the resistor in hand when you go so they can read the color bands on it to sell the proper rated resistor. . |

Yup. The 3rd from the top was broken. Does that mean that this is the only bad resistor and that it simply affected the other 2? How do I know how many watts and ohms the resistor is?

Like tag50 said, if You take the resistor to any electronic store they can tell the value by the color bands.
The 3rd resistor from the top should be 750Ω (Violet Green Brown). You can get a 1/2 watt resistor. Here are all the values for reference: |

Does replacing the resistor (s) affect the speed?

Re: Need pic of F/R wiring for electric 1993 Club Car DS
The change in resistance as the wiper arm goes from pad to pad is what defines the throttle curve.
You should replace the resistors with the same values, there is no way to increase the overall speed by changing the values, only how smooth the acceleration is going to be. |
