Does the G-1 have a fuel filter inside the tank as the G-9 does? I have had that filter go bad on three of my carts!! On the G-9 its near the bottom of the tank. If you follow the supply line from the fuel pump you cant miss it. Its a big screw off cap and the filter is in the cap.

Check the plastic piece inside the rubber grommet on top of tank. Very common for those to crank.

Could be crankshaft seal leaking, not pulsing enough for fuel pump

The rubber hose connection from the fuel filter to the hard line can be cracked/leaking that could cause that. The small crankcase brass fitting and hose could be damaged causing the fuel pump not to have full "pulsar" from the crankcase pressure and lose it's prime. Just throwing this out there. All good suggestions
