Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
Thank you for the head up on the ramp shoes.
I ordered a set of 3 but so hopefully I didn't do too much damage to the clutch test driving it but I don't see any serious wears on it. Do I just loosen the nut far enough to insert new shows or the clutch need to come out completely to put the new shoes on? Bill |

Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
If the ramps on the sheave are not very smooth, then the sheave will have to be replaced as well. If not, the rough surface on the sheave will take out the new shoes!!
Don't know that just backing parts loose, will do it. I believe those parts need to be taken apart, cleaned, and put back together again. Dirt, dust, grease and grit, make for quick wear on parts, that with a little maint, will last many, many years!! |

I went out today to look at the ramps and there was still one shoe remaining on it. It look like it was operating on only one shoes and other two ramps had gaps in between where the shoes was so it look like that it wasn't making any metal to metal contacts. When the new shoes arrives, I will take it completely apart and clean it up. Bill |

Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
Then you also need to hope that there isn't to much play in the bushings from all the side pressure of just one shoe making contact. But I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
There are 2 bushings inside the sliding sheave. They are replaceable, but wait till you see how sloppy they are.
I have pictures of them in my synature album. |

Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
2 bushings in the primary, only 1 bushing in the secondary (rear clutch). if bushing is to be replaced, do the seals too, they will be damaged upon removal.

Re: Gear box (Transmission) vent tubing leaking
Thank for the feedback!
I guess I will go ahead and remove the secondary clutch to see if the bushing are still good and order the bushing and the seals if it needed to be replaced. Bill |
