If the cart has a Fugi rear axle, you are SOL. No motor upgrades available, [ask me how I know]. Tahoedawgz71 has some good diffs available. If the front end is tight, a spindle lift is doable but if you want a a arm lift, either change the steering column and box to a rack unit [be sure to get the upper shock bracket with it] from a newer cart. Again, been there/done that. Once that is done the rest of the cart is easy as you basically have an 86 to 97 cart. The good men here at BGW can help you with the motor and controls based on your wants and needs. Keepin the vintage rides ALIVE!

if you are going off road, I would swap into a rack for the steering.
My brother just swapped his out and and it made a huge difference.
It was a fight with the steering wheel to keep the cart straight on the flat gravel roads at camp with the old style steering.

I haven't gone boonie bashing but the rack is sure sweet steering. [First vehicle I have ever owned with a rack. Had a couple of girlfriends with them though, but no more.]

Hello Ryan 85. Are you 85 or were you born in 1985?

Hello? Hope we didn't discourage you with the parts swap? It is not that hard especially if you live in a cart rich area. [I don't] It would be really cool to see another 81 resurrected!

Thank you sir, but with this 81 model cart, I think Scottyb's conversion kit would be a better alternative. All of my stuff is OEM. Scotty has the custom made brackets to make the potentiometer fit on the 81 frame. My MCOR4 kits won't fit anything earlier than a 1995. I'd be happy to help with the differential though. It's going to be a required item in order to use a modern motor.
