Default 89 Marathon - Overheating?

The problem that I am having is that when I get to about the 4th hole, I press down the gas pedal and the cart will make a sputtering noise "da,da,da,da,da" but will not accelerate. If you let it sit for a few minutes, it will take off. It might be OK for a couple of more stops, but than it does it again. Any ideas?

Thank you,

It is hot!!! I have not had a chance to feel other carts. Is there something specific that would cause it to get hot?

If the fuel/air mixture is too lean at the carb or the intake or exhaust is restricted? I don't know if a tight valve out of adjustment could do it but I would sure check it ..... Pull the plug and describe the color of it. Dark brown, light brown, Gray or what?

If the carb built up some varnish the fuel passages and jets could be restricting fuel flow causing it to run lean. Like Scotty says run it till it does it and pull the plug. deer tan good gray or white bad. Search spark plug color.
