Default 1992 Marathon tail light

I have a 1992 Marathon, there are tail lights on the back of it that do not work. Before I start working on them can anyone tell me if these are just tail lights or tail light and brake light?

Take the bulb out, if it has one filament and one contact on the bottom of the bulb it will not work for brake lights. If it is a 2 filament bulb like an 1157 with 2 contacts on the bottom of the bulb it is brake light capable.
Whether you have the wiring or switch to actuate the light is another question.

Thanks, I looked yesterday real quick to see how many wires went to each light but I dont remember. It looked there was a couple of wires going to each light. I am just wondering if it was common for this year machine to have break lights?

No, someone put those tail lights in themselves. If there is a brake light wire there will three wires going into the back of the lights, one is brake light, one is tail light, and the last is the ground wire.

From the looks of them they are just standard marking lights that you can get from any parts store. I don't think that they are going to be break lights. But if they are (like stated earlier) there will be a third wire going to the light from a switch that will below the break pedal.
