Default alignment of counterbalance KF82

I will be assembling my KF82 soon ( new piston and rod ). the counterbalance gear has an alignment arrow on it but I cant find an arrow on the crank. I am guessing the gears can be a couple of teeth off ( maybe ). Any help on this will be appreciated. Thanks

There is a corresponding timing mark on the crank and it needs to be lined up properly to the balance shaft arrow or your motor will run out of balance. They have a photo in the service manual but the PDF file I have doesn't show what the mark looks like (picture is too dark). I'll go and look at one of my cranks tomorrow, I think the timing mark on the crank is not an arrow but maybe just a straight line if I remember correctly.

Springbok, do you remember the mm size of the ss bolts that you replaced the rivets in the cam gear with ? The gear is very loose on the camshaft ,and i remember that you replaced them with bolts and nylon nuts. Thanks

I don't remember the size of the bolts/nuts. I remember I tried to get bolts as short as possible, but a long as necessary in order to use the nylock nuts (enough threads for the nylon insert in the nut to grab). I would just go to the hardware store with your cam/gear and find bolts that fit the best.

Springbok, any chance you have a dynamic balancer for the kf82? Ilooked at mine just now and noticed that 3-4 of the nylon gear teeth were buggered up. So, far I cant find the gear ( or the balancer for that matter). Thanks

I have a couple but I believe they have buggered teeth as well. I could be wrong though. I'll look at what I have later and let you know.

Here's a couple I found for sale online:
