Electrical problems with 2001 club car ds
So i have a 2001 Club Car DS. I have replaced the solenoid and all the micro switches. It has a brand new battery as well. I have tested output on the solenoid and all the wires but i still cannot get the engine to turn over with the gas pedal. The only way it will turn over is if i ground out the solenoid with a pair of pliers. Im usually pretty good with electrical problems but this really has me stumped. Before i sink anymore money into this cart i just want to see if anyone has had a similar problem or might know whats going on.

Make sure you have a good ground at the solenoid.

Re: Electrical problems with 2001 club car ds
There is no ground direct to the solenoid.
Not super difficult to trace down here. Ground goes to the black wire on the shift lever microswitch. And when that switch is closed, ground goes out the green wire to the pedal microswitch in the black box. When you press the pedal and the cam inside there rotates, it closes the switch and ground now travels to the solenoid via orange wire. Start by checking for ground at the black wire at the FNR microswitch. Also maybe silly, but make sure the yellow knob on the back of the FNR is not set to maintenance mode. And make sure it actually makes contact with the rear microswitch. The one in front sandwiched between the body is just for the reverse buzzer. |

Checked the fuse in the fuse block?
With key switch On, you should get 12v at the Blue wire on the solenoid. Orange wire is ground through the pedal micro and the second (rear) micro at the shift lever as CP241 explained. |
