Ah, I understand your question. Yes, the tow mode would work once it woke back up. That's another reason why I'm not so sure its the brake.

Looks like the trigger temps for the power reduction are 176*F for the Controller and 248*F for the motor from the service manual. Unfortunately the trouble shooting steps include "don't drive as hard" then replacing the motor and controller for those lines.

Any chance you know someone with a code scanner?
