Decent alternative to plastic rivets for switch panel

I removed the switch panel on a new to me cart and the 24 yo plastic rivets were too brittle to reuse. Yes, a #10 screw will work but for whatever reason I didn't like it .

While in Advanced Auto Parts I noticed these little Toyota bumper screw rivets and they looked to be the correct size (3.99 for a 3 pack). The shaft is actually the perfect size for the switch panel holes, but the flange is too wide as is. I placed it in my drill chuck and spun the flange against a file to take it down. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it and thought I would share.
