Re: Now it won't start
no idiot method, if the reeds will not seal they will cause fuel/air to push through the carb and may prevent the engine from starting. flipping them may help but if the seal on the reed cage is bad it will need to be replaced.

Got it all back together and it started right up. Not sure what did it but it runs again. Curious if it runs in the morning.

Re: Now it won't start
Yeah I flipped them around. There was still some slight daylighting but much better.
The cart runs good but I hear some rattles from the engine at hi rpm's. Not sure what it is. Really don't want to put anymore money into this cart. Any idea what this might be? |

Re: Now it won't start
Did you look closely at the base of the engine where it mounts to the cradle? You may find that there are cracks in the metal the the engine bolts to. Cracks will also develop in the brackets that support the muffler cradle. The ones on the engine base are especially hard to see. I used a long pry bar and had a buddy pry around gently while I looked with a shop light. Sure enough, I could see them. They were causing a rattling noise at higher RPMs. sounded sort of like a clattering and I had even gone as far as hacking off all the metal shielding under the cart..LOL trying to get rid of that noise. We ended up laying in some round stock and welding up the cracks. Worked like a charm.
