1989 having trouble on the hills!
I posted this in the Buggies forum, but answers aren't very clear!
I just had my EZ-GO over to the dealers to have the rear end clutch replaced. After having it a week, he called and said it was ready. He said he refused to replace the rear end clutch because he felt there was nothing wrong with the cart. Well, let me tell you, if there isn't anything wrong with this cart, I'm the president of Blue Bird Body Company. I've had it a year, I used to have enough power to PASS everyone going up a hill, now it falls on its face and everyone passes me. I had him check the compression, I have 100 PSI. The clutch was rattling really bad, it no longer does (they did replace the ramps) i'm thinking the spring has gone bad in the clutch??? Its getting full throttle..... i don't know what to do! There is no difference and I'm frustrated. Thanks 2001bluebird |

If your compression is only 100 psi - You have MANY more problems than a driven clutch my friend...

Re: 1989 having trouble on the hills!
By the way - If someone brought a cart to my shop with 100psi and asked me to replace the clutch. I wouldn't do it, either. Your shop guy might just be one of the most honest fellas out there.?.?.?
Hopefully he explained to you that the engine has some issues, I mean, some major issues? |

So, should I rebuilt the engine? The guy said "There is nothing wrong with that cart!" Well, as I said.... there is.....

Yep. Sounds like rebuild time to me. Or better yet time for a big block

how would you check the compression in it? or do you have to take it to get that done?

Re: 1989 having trouble on the hills!
hawk - you use a compression guage that screws into the spark plug hole. They are availabe at just about any auto parts store
