Re: Primary clutch stuck on G16
Well, got the parts and the puller today and went to work. Had a pretty tough time getting the bolt out of the clutch but once that broke loose it was pretty easy going. New clutch, and belts and the cart runs much better. The transition of power feels much smoother. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Primary clutch stuck on G16
Hello, I am a new cart owner and new to this site. I am having the same problem I think. I just bought a Yamaha g16 and it seemed to run fine the first 5 laps around the block and then it lost quite a bit of power. I drained the old fuel replaced the fuel filter and pulled the carb off an cleaned it. I also put two pumps of grease on the front zerk and one on the back. Right when i got it started again (and it did sound like it was reving better).I put it into gear and it jerked. Took a look and the belt is tight and all the way up. I took the three bolts off the cover but cant get the cover off. Also where can I get the "rollers"? I found the puller tool on the link above. Thanks for any help.

Re: Primary clutch stuck on G16
Socal, just continue what your doing. look at the other 2, to see if they are worn, and replace as necessary. I don't have that clutch, so I can't help, but your on the right track.
Maintenance is the key to making these cars run well, read and do the maint. and it will go along way to making your car reliable. Welcome to the site, Mike |

Re: Primary clutch stuck on G16
i removed the bolt but now need to figure out how to get the clutch off. Do i need the clutch removal tool? is the spider threaded onto the shaft or do i just need to try and knock it off some how?

Re: Primary clutch stuck on G16
Go back and read Smallblock's comment, in this thread. He said you need a puller for this clutch.
Good luck Mike Have you looked at replacing the roller with the spider in place? |
