My Tiny Tack was originally on a 2 stroke. Now I have it on a Big Block 18 hp. Works perfectly. You must be sure to wrapp red wire at least three times. The ground wire must be firmly attached to the engine. If it's not, that could account for thr flucuations.

So the red wire is just wrapped around the outside of the spark plug wire near boot ??? No hooking up no cutting ????
