Re: vertical shaft conversion?
seems kinda silly to spend 150.00 on something like that when you can get so many motors off of craigslist for about the same price....and horizontal. just my 2 cents. yeah, ok, i've got a craigslist addiction. so what. it's not really a problem. i can quit whenever i want to.

Re: vertical shaft conversion?
Not everyone lives in an area that has "lots" of them on craigslist. I just check ours and there isn't one within a 100 miles from here

Re: vertical shaft conversion?
Something like a brush hog gearbox might work. It might be better to have it on the trans but may be more difficult.

Re: vertical shaft conversion?
Bought a right angle gear box off E-Bay for 20 bucks! Its the right angle drive off a 1985 Honda ATC 250 SX. 800 bucks new, guess it should be sturdy enough! I am going to start fabricating the engine mounts this week. Have my gear box and jack shaft off an old snowmobile. I will keep you posted. I think this may work! I think I am going to keep it simple gearbox to clutch then rear clutch to chain drive live axle.

Re: vertical shaft conversion?
Berthasquare has the best idea. I have a friend that has a raceing lawnmower that will run 70 mph on the track! So go for it and take lots of pics.
