G16 issue - What if my solenoid doesn't click?
I've got an issue with electrical on my G16 where when I press gas pedal I get nothing. Doesn't turn over, no click, nothing.
So I've been going through the sticky "So your Yami won't turn over". I've got power to the shut off switch. Then I go to check the solenoid and it never clicks. Is that usually a sure sign of bad solenoid? Thanks! |

Have you checked the fuse in the wiring harness?

Yes. Fuse is good. I checked it. I've re-read the sticky. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I get a little further.
Thanks G2! |

If you have power to solenoid try jumping the 2 big posts to see if it turns over.

Ok. I tried jumping the main posts of the solenoid. When I did that the starter/generator turns over. I tried getting a continuous duty solenoid from auto parts store but same results. Hmmm. Kind of puzzled at this point.

Re: G16 issue - What if my solenoid doesn't click?
Before you start replacing things pull the two small wires from the solenoid and jumper two wires from the battery to them. Doesn't matter which goes on which post because it is not internally grounded.
If it doesn't spin you have a bad solenoid since you already jumped the two large posts and it spins over. If it does spin when jumping the two small posts, you have a bad circuit feeding the soleniod or a bad ground coming from it. I would check all of the wire connections first, like the ones under the floor pan at the gas pedal. A bad connection will cause this, after connections then start at the solenoid and work back until you find your missing 12 volts. |
