rear axle gear oil ?
I changed my rear axle oil last night on the G2.
When I drained it there wasn't much that came out. maybe 3oz-5oz of oil. I am sure it had never been check or changed. When I removed the inspection bolt and started filling through the overflow vent tube hole I only got les than a half quart in before it started to come out the inspection bolt hole. The manual says the capacity is .85 quarts. So I put the inspection bolt back in and filled with the rest of the .85 quart. The cart has a 4 inch lift on it. Could this pitch the rear end so that the oil is at a differnet orientation to the inspection hole? Did I do the right thing puting it the requested .85 quart? I just don't want to mess up the rear end cause I know how much they cost to replace. Thanks for any advise. |

Re: rear axle gear oil ?
Anybody else notice this when putting oil in the rear axle of a lifted cart?

Re: rear axle gear oil ?
I'm not sure but when I lifted my cart oil started dripping slowly from the breather. I need to check mine though because I never have.

Re: rear axle gear oil ?
It is realy easy on the older G2-G9 carts. Ther is a 19mm (i think) drain bolt that you access from a hole in the skid plate under the rear axle. You can fill easily from the vent tube port on the top. The inspection bolt seems very low. It is on the driver side of the housing.
The manual shows the capacity as .85 US quart. That is what I put in mine but I had to leave the inpection bolt in place. I bought this cart allready lifted but I assume the the rear end is tilted a little making this inspection bold location worthless. I just don't want to overfill or blow as axle seal and soak my brakes. I have other fun things to buy for the cart without messing something up. |
