Re: G1 clutch help
That's a stock clutch. Call the site sponsor CPP (CartPartsPlus) or send a Private Message to Big Block Man on the forum here. He should be able to help.

Re: G1 clutch help
Looking at the rust on the inside edges of that Clutch I would say it hasn't moved for a long time.
I would take the belt off first. Pull on the belt at the rear an it should give enough slack to roll it off. Then you can work on the front clutch. You should be able to push it in and out. Could just be rust on the shaft? be careful with the grease though. It can sling out of that front clutch and grease your belt. I am new at these carts but that's how I would start. Those clutches are expensive to replace. |

Re: G1 clutch help
Blake, bend the lock tab out of the way, remove the bolt (counter clockwise), remove the outer sheave (just pulls off), remove the circlip and cam washer, then pull the floating flange off. No need to remove the fixed sheave. Sand the fixed sheave surface (were the belt rides and the shaft that the floating flange slides in and out on-to remove any rust). grease the bushings in the floating flange (were it slides on the fixed sheave shaft). Check the weights and pins for exsesive play. Reassemble and test. You probably allready figured it out, but I thought this may help. Good luck

Re: G1 clutch help
Just what Smallblock said, not that many parts in there. It may just be froze up and only need a good cleaning and lube. That is a better clutch for driving around, the newer one is smoother but that old one you can shim the spring for more takeoff. That is an original G1 clutch.

Re: G1 clutch help
Awesome, guess I'll have to read up on how to shim the spring, We too it apart and made sure all the weights weren't froze or anything previously. I guess this time well need to take it apart and do some more cleaning and what not, are you suppose to put any kind of lubricant in where the weights are?

Re: G1 clutch help
Most times when someone tells me there clutch is not grabbing, There motor is not running just the starter turning it over. You say it runs great, You mean start idles and should rev like crazy with the belt not turning. Should also smoke pretty good since its not moving. Any chance you can get a video
