Default 95 EZGO Medalist Limo Build - Rookie

I just purchased a 95 EZGO Medalist that has been stretched. I want to do a complete rebuild. I have seen many helpful posts, so I thought I would join. Here are my plans, and would appreciate any comments or recommendations.
Upgrade to 48 volts, what is needed?
New motor that will have torque and get me to 25 mph
New center pod and seat, I think I saw one that was a cooler!
Rear flip seat
Lift kit 6"? Spindle or long travel
tire and rim size
Light kit, is a light bar my only option?
Low voltage converter
Stereo

I will apologize in advance if I have broken any rules or not used the correct etiquette, this is my first forum.

Thanks

Welcome aboard. A torque motor and 25 mph will not be possible without a big amp controller, HD solenoid, and a minimum of 4 ga wiring. You will most likely want a HD F/R switch too. As far as the lift goes...not really my thing. I put 10" wheels and 205/65-10 loadstar trailer tires on all four of my carts. Along with a HD rear springs and coil-over front shocks mine end up about 12" off the ground. A seat pod is available from RCC cart parts. I would highly recommend that you replace the brake shoes with disc. Don't waste time and money on the "cable" style disc brake setup. I have put hydraulic disc on all of my carts, 2-Ezgo & 2-Club Car, and will never go back. The best that I can find are at www.wheelsca.com and they are great people to work with. Be warned though, their installation instructions are not very helpful but the product is top notch. If you dig a big you can find head light kits that are cowling mounted instead of a light bar.

Take a look at our sponsers for any additional parts you may need.

Hope this helps and good luck with your project

welcome to BGW reef. you are doing fine with your post. do you have any pics yet? use the search function for the 48v upgrade. also check plum quick's site for info on their motors. scottyb at cartsuunlimited also sells the disc brake kits and upgrade packages. good luck!

search for zo6 graduates to 48v.

I have what I believe is a series drive system. It does not have a speed control coming out of it.

Not sure what you mean, look at the diagram and figure out which one it is

No there is not a tow run switch on it. Yes to the other reply, the FnR is in the middle of the front seat and it is a lever. The actual control is under the front pod.
Since my first post, I began the tear down. I would post some pictures if someone can explain how.

I have also bought an OEM center pod, so now I will need all of the seat brackets, backs, seats, etc. Hate to buy stuff that is upholstered just to have it redone.
I also need to by a flip down back seat, and a flip down tinted DOT approved from window.
Finally, do they make an electronic FnR switch? Something instead of the lever.

Thanks,
Reefbreak

definitely a series drive. sorry about the confusion. DD Motors shows speed control wire coming out of the motor if it is not a series.

I like the FnR switch for the Sepex. Can you use that on a series?

Yes you have a series drive system, no you can not use the sepex F/R, but you can make your series cart work like one with a switch on the dash,
for the up grades you want you will need

a 400amp controller would be nice for what you want the cart to do
a 48v solenoid
some 4ga battery cables, welding cables
HD F/R switch
48v charger
and if you still have the 36v motor? you can use that and you will be very happy with the 36v motor running on 48 volts, or you can up grade to a PQ 48v motor

check out Scottyb's site he is a sponsor here and he will take very good care of you on this build, he has a few different packages
