Default Alltrax controller pro

I must be stupid,I still can't get controller pro to work.At first I thought it was the Windows 7 on my laptop so I got my wife to download it on hers with Windows 98.i still get the "can't locate controller" message. I'm using a Sabranet cable and have installed the driver from the disc that came with it .anybody have any ideas what it could be?

The control needs to powered up (led lit) before the program is opened up, failing to start in this order gets that complaint a lot.

I had a horrible time getting Vista to recognize mine. What finally worked was leaving the controller hooked up and powered on and restarting the computer. After that it worked like a charm. Might be worth a try.

I also had trouble with Vista and my serial cable. The driver that came with it did not work. Ended up getting the numbers off the chip on the adapter and finding drivers that way. Mine was a Prolific PL2303

Mine gave me a fit as well. Radio Shack cable and Win 7. I was able to start program withour power to controller. Gave me message no controller found. I then powered controller and clicked on the tabs at the top of the program and it found it and I was able to program.
