Re: batteries
Would there be a(n) (ever-so) slight advantage considering you're carrying less weight with 3 12Vs?
6 T105s - 62 lbs x 6 = 372 lbs 3 T1260s - 78 lbs x 3 = 234 lbs 3 T1275s - 83 lbs x 3 = 246 lbs Saves 126 lbs goin' with 3 1275s. That's more than my wife weighs after Thanksgiving dinner! Just wondering... RLW |

@ rwl
Yes, you'd save a little a bit of energy during acceleration, but probably not a measurable amount while cruising on level ground since 126 pounds wouldn't significantly change the rolling resistance and going downhill more or less offsets going uphill. (Unless all the hills in SE Ohio only go up like they do around here.) Whatever the energy saving is realized from hauling less weight, isn't going to came anywhere close to offsetting the run-time loss caused by carrying less stored energy with you. An analogy might be just filling your car's gas tank 1/4 full. You might get slightly better MPG, but you also might have to push it to the next gas station. Also: Even if having a run-time that is 40% to 50% shorter is acceptable, the a T-1275 is a 150AH battery and a T-105 is a 225AH battery and the cart will use the same AH to travel the same distance, so the lesser AH battery will routinely be discharged further, which in turn means they will need to be replaced sooner than the higher AH batteries. If someone gave me three T-1275 batteries, I would use them and tolerate the shorter run-time and reduced performance while I saved $50/month to replace them with T-105 batteries when they gave up the ghost about a year down the road. |
