1984 ezgo 2pg running problem
I have a 1984 ezgo with the 2pg motor. I just rebuilt the motor and it ran good a couple of times and the next it died while driving it. Thought it was fuel pump so I put a electric one on it. It gets fuel to carburetor but doesn't hit or start or nothing. I checked for spark and i have spark.Didn't know if it could be reed valves or what. But I don't know anything about these motors. So for you smart guys I need some help or ideas. Thank you guys

Did you change the crank seals?

Check the basics! new plug, try choking it by hand " hand over carb" you'll feel if it has suction this way it could have puffed out a crank seal. Did you lock tight them in? Mine didn't press in all that tight... so lock tight and RTV on the outer edge to be safe Try a shot of ether in the cylinder when the plugs out...

Do not use ether on a 2 stroke. It will usually take out the bearings. Try loosening the muffler about a 1/2" and see if it will run.

I put a new plug in still won't start. I can feel suction from carburetor. It's not letting fuel past carburetor

You could take the fuel pump apart to see if its got a cracked diaphragm. Make sure you mark the side of the pump so you put it back together the same way. The clear round pieces are the diaphragm. There are two in there.

Would reed valves have anything to do with it

Re: 1984 ezgo 2pg running problem
If you have suction at the carb with no back pulse I would say it's not a reed problem. Check the inlet needle in the carb for an obstruction. This ethanol fuel reeks havoc on all the rubber parts, such as o-rings, fuel lines and the rubber tip on the inlet needle. I have seen pieces of deteriorated fuel line in the inlet needle. Hate to have you take that carb off, but I think you need to.
