Need to pull the bowl on the bottom of the carb. Three possible problems. Float is sinking letting in too much fuel. This is kinda rare unless really old parts. Needle has trash around seat causing it not to seal off good. Or third, just a worn out needle not sealing good. Pulling apart and looking carefully will give you your answer.

Thanks for the information, but it has a brand new carb, just put on.
Any other ideas?

Generally if the needle is not seating then the bowl will flood and fuel will leak from the breather pipe. It is my experience that because life is so hard on a two stroke plug once it gets worn it cannot be cleaned back into reliable operation. I would recommend a new plug as a cheap form of diagnosis.

I had the same issue as you. Turned out, it was the fuel pump.

When the pump goes bad, it doesn't stop fuel from the tank from continuing to run downhill, overfilling the carb and flooding the combustion chamber.

I never thought that the fuel pump could be the only issue... I'd even gone so far as to purchase a new carb, a new muffler and new ignition wires along with a new pump.

But the pump was the first thing I replaced, and I tried firing up the cart right away to see if there was any improvement. The difference was immediate and permanent. I returned the extra $200 bucks worth of stuff, and she's still running like a champ.

Thanks for the info on the fuel pump, just doesn't make sence, when you turn it over gas in coming out, but it may be to much, will try that.

I was leaning to maybe the core was going bad, and didn't have enough fire to keep the plug out.

I assume these motors are like a lawnmower motor and have a mag behind the flywheel.

Thank you loudgoldwing, that was the problem, the fuel pump, my cart both clutches went out, so I took my fuel pump off and put it on my sisters cart, running like a top. Thanks again!

I have the same symptoms on my cart. Could this also do the same thing to a later 4 stroke model cart?
