I have a seperate 12v charger that I plug into an aux port I mounted where the FnR switch would have been mounted.

Re: Golf Cart USB charger
Sorry to backtrack, but if you already have a reducer, it would probably suffice to charge a phone. Worst case, don't charge while all accessories are in use. If you have a horn and are driving at night, just don't honk the horn while headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals are in use, if you're charging. The reducer likely has a factor of safety built in, since they usually round to the nearest 5 amps.
If you don't have a fuse block, since you mentioned it was factory wired, just find a 12 volt positive and put a cheap in-line fuse on that. Find the 12 volt negative and directly connect that. |

Re: Golf Cart USB charger
FWIW,
My phone charger is 5 volt, 800 mA, so you can figure 1/3 amp (plus losses) at 12 volts. |

Re: Golf Cart USB charger
You can buy the whole kit from a place called V-links. You can't order them online, but I called them and they sent me out one. The kit has everything including the wiring, fuse, connectors and a install guide. I think it was around 60 dollars. It works great! It's at www.vlinkscharge.com.
