Default Fuel pumps, dealer sells plastic ones?

I've let my karts sit for too long and I'm pretty sure the fuel pumps are toast and ill have to clean the carb. Well I called the dealer for a fuel pump. They say they have plastic fuel pumps that work like the og ones. Anyone use a plastic fuel pump? They cost about $60

Should be the pump you need, cheaper than $60 too!

Thanks, it doesn't list my engine but shows the year.
I think all fuel pumps are the same on the Ds models just mount different.

That pump should be the one for your cart. I'll bet the dealer is wanting to sell you the plastic type pump that the newer Precedent carts use - those look like they mount and work the same, they're just plastic. Like this one:

Makes sense, they all do the same thing and are the same thing.

And less parts to stock for the dealer - if the mounting is really the same (it looks like it) then I see why they'd just carry the newer plastic ones.

Yeah true, but what do you think is durable with today's crappy fuel if left to sit at times?
Plastic or metal?
I do use stabil in my fuels but that doesn't last forever

Personally, someone would have to do a lot of 'splaining and have some REAL good reasons to get me to go away from a metal cased fuel pump like the cart originally had, especially since they're cheaper anyhow! I know you can't always get it everywhere, but check around you for places that sell fuel with no ethanol - it is most definitely worth it to run non-ethanol fuel in any small engine if you have it available. Here I can get non-ethanol 90 octane for around $4.10 a gallon, but it runs GREAT and keeps the carb and fuel pumps on smaller engines from having expensive problems.

Alcohol which is in our pump fuel today, is a corrosive to aluminum and other metals, but the plastics used in the new fuel pumps and carbs are engineered not to be affected by the alcohol. True, the plastic ones will not stand up to being smacked with a hammer, but are actually more durable against the effects of the ethanol. Also, it is a good idea to treat your fuel with a stabilizer, but you may want to check out Briggs new AFT, as it not only stabilizes the fuel, but also contains an anti corrosion additive to help shield the metal fuel components from the effects of the ethanol.
