08 Precedent - Increasing Speed
I bought a used 08 Precedent a few years ago that has only ever topped out at ~12mph. That has always felt a tad bit slow to me and i'd like to get some more speed out of it. From reading, it seems that most commonly Precedents are programmed to Speed Code 3, however, my speeds seem to be more in line with Speed Code 2. I've also found out from reading, it generally costs a little money to have a CC dealer unlock Speed Code 4 for you. Would this be the same case if I took my cart to a dealer to find out what speed code I am running and have them switch it from Speed Code 2 to 3? Or is that something they could do for no charge?
I've also seen the Speed Code 5 programmers for sale, but I really don't need that kind of speed. I strictly use my cart on the golf course. I stumbled across this Shelby Control Systems 2Speed Kit that claims speeds in line with Speed Code 4. Anybody have experience with one of these things? Can't find much information here. Are these things reliable or would it be better to pay a dealer to unlock Speed Code 4 for me? |

Re: 08 Precedent - Increasing Speed
A speed magnet is half the price and it does the same thing.
The main reason to get the Speed Code 4 unlocked by the Dealer is if You want to retain the Regenerative brake. Edit: Unless Your cart is an Excel (serial number starts with PH), in which case only the Dealer Speed code 4 will work. Last edited by Sergio; 03-08-2016 at 03:06 PM.. Reason: Note about Excel |

Interesting. Didn't know speed magnets were an option for newer carts. I'll look into that.
Any place in particular you would suggest buying from? |

Re: 08 Precedent - Increasing Speed
RevolutionGolfCars.com is a dealer and sponsor that sells the magnets.
The speed magnets work on all IQ carts, including the Precedent. They will not work on the Precedent Excel, PH and PD serial numbers. What are the first 6 digits of the cart Serial Number? |

Just curious why the magnet doesn't work on the Excel models. The motor itself looks the same as the ones on the IQ models. |

Re: 08 Precedent - Increasing Speed
The motor is exactly the same in both models, the issue is the controller in the Excel carts has software specifically written to prevent the use of speed magnets.

Re: 08 Precedent - Increasing Speed
I gotcha. Guess they felt the need to take all the fun out of it.
Oh well, guess I'll start making some calls to see who can change Speed Code for me. Thanks for the help, guys. |
