curtis 1510 reverse polarity on Solenoid
Customer installed new solenoid on CC precedent with curtis 1510. Prior to new Solenoid, cart was running, but would quit after a few feet.
Old error code on handset gave main coil failure prior to solenoid change. New Solenoid control wires were installed with reverse polarity (or backward of the way the came off). Handset can still access and read the controller, but does not see key on signal or throttle on switch. It does see change in F/R switch. Also, not seeing voltage on Solenoid control wire. I know most solenoids are not polarity specific. Is there a fuse in the key switch circuit I am missing, or is this a damaged controller? |

Re: curtis 1510 reverse polarity on Solenoid
Some do have a fuse inline with the tow/run switch. Not sure if that year has one or not, but I'm pretty sure if the fuse is blown you will not have power to the F/R switch, so would have no F/R change on the scanner. I could be wrong on that.
I don't know if that solenoid is polarity specific, but if they shorted any of the wires while working on it, that could have let the magic out of the controller. Does the serial number prefix have a Q second digit? |

Re: curtis 1510 reverse polarity on Solenoid
I agree, a blown fuse prevents the buzzer and FNR from working.
It may have damaged the sonic weld if there is a diode in the Solenoid coil as it would have created a direct short when trying to energize the Solenoid. Check if you have +48v on the Controller pin #10 (tan wire) when you turn the key ON. |
