2008 EZ Go RXV Accelerator Switch

I am brand new to working on golf carts, but there is no one locally that can help and I'm trying to avoid driving an hour to have it looked at. Our 2008 EZ Go RXV stopped running abruptly. We had the motor looked at and an electrician check the system. The solenoid was fine, but the accelerator switch was bad. So, we ordered a new one and installed it. The cart went from not moving at all to barely moving (acts like the batteries are drained, but they are charged and checked). Also, forward and reverse are now backward! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may have gone wrong?

Could be the Bearing encoder.

Yep, oscilloscope.

I agree with usgicollector that it sounds like the bearing encoder (aka "speed sensor") that is in the motor is bad. When one goes on that year of cart it rumbles and goes into 1/2 mile limp mode. Its really an ugly experience the first time you see it happen.
