Re: Still on the hunt
Don't know for sure, but 14's have some specific parts that don't fit other cars. Just as my G8 does. But that hasn't stopped me from being very pleased with my G8!!! And I'd do another 8 in a heart beat! So they are ALL GOOD. I think 16 are more plentyfull, and have the most after market parts. But also know, that just like GM, many parts fit, many different year carts, with Yamaha!! (Couldn't tell ya about the others).
If it were me, I'd do a 16 if I found a good one. (Straight frame would high on list). If I could afford newer, I'd go G22 with a long travel Jakes. And I'd go hunt down Shmo and ask him about them. There is a current thread in elect.yamaha on his car, Nice! Shmo, has a 16 also! |

Re: Still on the hunt
Ok I just texted the gentleman with the carts.he told me the g14 are 95' to 96' models. He also said he has some g16 carts starting at$1800. So maybe I should save a little longer and get the 16.?

Re: Still on the hunt
My opinion, you can't go wrong with a 16. My opinion, you can't beat a Jake's single A-arm lift. If you have lots of money, do the long travel, about $750., but the A-arm will get you everywhere you want to go, around $300.
Shmo's thread may be in "lifted carts". You can also contact stuff4mason, he's had quite an ordeal rebuilding a g8!! And it came out great! He can coach you on alot of things to do and not to do. |

Re: Still on the hunt
If you plan on doing a non long travel lift, I agree with Mike. My vote goes for a G-16 or a G-19. They very similar. I personally feel those carts with the 6" A-arm lift work better than the newer carts with the spindle lifts. I am really happy with the G-19 I lifted. It works great.
I was not happy with the performance of my spindle lift on a G22, some guys love them however. Now, if you decide to go long travel, I would prefer the newer G-22 through G-29 carts. Here is a link to my Yamaha builds. I hope it helps you. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...ric-build.html SHMO |

Re: Still on the hunt update!
Well I managed to pick me up a cart finally!
I didn't get the newer G16 like we talked about, but the deal was hard to pass up. I will have to get pics of it later posted up.Probably start a new build thread on it. Anyways I picked up 1991 G9 with unfortunately a stuck engine.Matter n fact it just froze up on them a week ago.purchase price of $250.It has an EZGO top on it that looks ok.When my son and I picked it up saturday. The gentleman said that another guy was trying to buy it from out from under me.He even offered more than I did for it.I also think it was the same guy who under cut me on the other one I looked at before.Golf Carts are HOT in Indiana I guess! Seat is ripped and needs recovered. The body plastic looks real good. I hope to probably go the clone route on the engine.I thought about filling the cylinder with Kroil oil to see if it will free up.I am curious to see if I can get it running just for kicks. Once I get it going then it will be time for lift and tires when I get the money. catch ya guys later |

Re: Still on the hunt
G9's are very good carts!! Go see "The New Guy's" cart. Good Move!!! Just like any maintained Yamaha, they run forever, never break!!
I would definitely try to make it run, what have you got ta loose? For a couple hundred, you might be able to make it run, and not need the clone or sell it for more than just junk! I think golf carts are very much on the rise. Look at all the venders on here that weren't here a year ago (Welcome). And how many new members signed up here lately. I read somewhere, that "less than 5% of golf carts are on golf courses"!... So... Why do they call them golf carts? Why don't they call them "Run-a-bouts, or go-any-where's", or like my wife calls ours "That Crappin Cart"...AS she's reaching for the key!! |

Re: Still on the hunt
the G9 was a good choice for the money. i paid $100 for mine and the engine was setup. its alot more stable on trails than the G16 is with out doing anything to the springs or shocks , we have a lifted G16 and on the trails it will scare you.
